About
Hi, I'm Carrie
Clinical myotherapist, former elite gymnast, and a stubborn believer that women shouldn't have to just put up with pain.
My journey
I've been fascinated by how bodies work for as long as I can remember. As an elite gymnast I was always pushing mine to its limits, and watching the physios and practitioners patch up my teammates got me well and truly hooked on the clinical side of things.
So I went and got a Bachelor of Health Science, majoring in clinical myotherapy. Fourteen-plus years on, I've worked with all sorts — from full-on sporting accidents to the slow damage a bad desk setup does (those workplace health and safety reps aren't on your case for nothing!).
I've spent a lot of that time working alongside chiropractors, remedial massage therapists and Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners, and I've never stopped borrowing the best bits from each to add to my own toolkit.
Pregnancy and postpartum care
Moving into pregnancy and postpartum work felt like a pretty natural next step for me. Growing a baby and recovering from birth ask an awful lot of a body, and most women are told to just put up with it. You don't have to.
I bring the same care and attention to this work as I do to everything else in the clinic. No fuss, no jargon — just honest, hands-on treatment and straight answers about what's going on.
My philosophy
I don't think you ever really stop learning in this job, and I wouldn't want to. As new techniques and research come along, I'll keep adding them in. Every body is different, and every body needs a little help from time to time — whether that's getting back to competing or just getting through the day comfortably.
"There is nothing more satisfying than a genuine thank you from a client for helping to remove some discomfort, or limitation they were experiencing."
